Chaucer names Cassandrah Mgoyo as the recipient of their new scholarship programme.
Chaucer, the specialty (re)insurance group, today announced Cassandrah Mgoyo as the recipient of their new scholarship programme. The scholarship, the first of its kind in the Lloyd’s market, will sponsor Cassandrah for the duration of her Law degree. In addition, Cassandrah will be mentored by a senior Chaucer leader and given work placements throughout her studies.
Chaucer received over 78 applications from an impressive range of candidates, but ultimately felt that Cassandrah was best suited to the programme.
The scholarship is part of Chaucer’s ambitious Diversity & Inclusion agenda which seeks to identify, support, and develop the next generation of (re)insurance leaders. The idea for the scholarship originated from Tracy Cattermole, Class Underwriter in the Energy Division, during an internally led Innovation Week.
David Bendle, COO, comments,
“I am delighted to welcome Cassandrah to our scholarship programme. Her aptitude and positive attitude shone through during her interviews, and we are proud to support her pursuit of higher education. We recognise that access to, and the expense of, higher education does not offer the same opportunities to all and this is something we are actively trying to address through our scholarship programme.
We believe that by creating relationships from diverse talent pools and building teams from all demographics with diversity in backgrounds and experiences, enhances our work culture and ultimately helps us deliver a better service to brokers and clients.”
